Sir Shri Ram Lala Shri Ram was born on April 27, 1884. First son of Madan Mohan Lal and Chando Devi, Lala Shri Ram got most of his early education from a Municipal Primary School in Bazaar Sita Ram. He matriculated in March, 1900 and later got himself enrolled for the Intermediate Arts course at Hindu College. In 1909, when he joined DCM, Lala Shri Ram was 25 years old. He possessed an analytical mind, and an infinite capacity for work, a knack for human relations. His view of business and perhaps of himself was put down by him in later years in rather revealing statements, "In my humble opinion, business is not merely a matter of attending work for a few hours. It is a matter of thinking, dreaming, imagining and working." His election in 1930 at the age of 46 as president of FICCI was the first intimation of his national stature. During his life, Lala Shri Ram's main emphasis was on vocational, technical and women's education. As far back in 1920, he had decided to conduct first experiment in vocation-oriented education by founding the Commercial Education Trust. The first school taken over by Commercial Education Trust was the Commercial High School. His Association with the Trust continued right upto the end of his life. The Commercial High School was raised in 1926 to the standard of an Intermediate College, in 1930 to a degree college and in 1934 to a post-graduate College. In 1942, Lala Shri Ram became the Chairman of the Governing Body of the College. By the year 1948, although comparatively young among the colleges of Delhi University, the Commercial College had the maximum enrolment possible under the University rules. The College offered B.A. pass course and the B.A. honours course in Commerce and M.A. course in Economics and Commerce. In 1949, it was proposed to rename the College as "Shri Ram College of Commerce" but it took three years to implement it due to initial resistance of Lala Shri Ram. Until 1949, the College was located at 8, Darya Ganj, New Delhi. In 1950, the proposal to shift the College to the University Enclave was accepted and implemented. Lala Shri Ram's association with the College continued till 1962, when because of failing health, he resigned. His health continued to deteriorate and he passed away on January 11, 1963.
Dr. Bharat Ram Dr. Bharat Ram (October 15, 1914 - July 11, 2007) was an Indian industrialist who built DCM. Mr. Bharat Ram hails from the renowned business family of Delhi, the owner of the famous Shri Ram Group and DCM with a legacy of more than 100 years beginning from his father Sir Lala Shri Ram. Dr. Bharat Ram was born in Delhi, graduated in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. After his graduation, he joined Delhi Cloth and General Mills Co Ltd (now DCM Ltd) in 1935 as an apprentice and rose to the position of chairman and managing director in 1958. He had also set up Shri Ram Fertilizers. Dr. Bharat Ram was the external face of the DCM group. He served on innumerable government committees and wrote two books: Glimpses of Industrial India and From Istanbul to Vienna. Coming from the capital's premier business family, Bharat Ram was a respected public figure -- the government even made him the chairman of Indian Airlines. He is regarded as one of the most influential leaders of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which he headed in 1965. (He had earlier been the president of the PHDCCI.) He also became the first Asian president of International Chamber of Commerce in 1969.

AGE GROUP : This program at SRGPS is meant for the children between age group of 2 years to 3 years. BUTTERFLY AT SRGPS: Owning to the fact that our little SRGPS kids can surprise us almost everyday by displaying their newly discovered skills, be it sequential thinking, communication skills, prenumber and prewriting skills, appreciation of creative arts and confidence building. FREQUENCY: 5 days a week for 3 hours The significance of this program is drawn from its name. Butterflies are known to be social beings who are extremely intelligent though they may seen deceptively easy going. The energy they display can surprise anyone. Butterfly usual day starts with circle time and involvement in activities based on the thematic curriculum. They experience the Sense, Touch, Feel, See and Smell. Every month they enjoy show and tell activity and role play which boosts up their creativity.

Kindergarten children undertake projects in which they investigate a real event or object. In the course of such projects, the children strengthen literacy and numeracy skills and also speaking and listening skills and acquire new words as they share their findings with others. Curriculum Approach The Curriculum Provides Activities That Include: * Integrated topic studies, rather than whole-group instruction in isolated skills; * Opportunities for children to learn by observing and experimenting with real objects; * A balance of child- and teacher-initiated activities; * Opportunities for spontaneous play and teacher-facilitated activities; * Group projects in which cooperation can occur naturally; * A range of activities requiring the use of large and small muscles; * Exposure to good literature and music of the children's own cultures and of other cultures represented in the class; * Authentic assessment of each child's developmental progress; * Opportunities for children with diverse backgrounds and developmental levels to participate in whole-group activities; and * Time for individuals or small groups of children to meet with the teacher for specific help in acquiring basic reading, writing, mathematical, and other skills as needed.

    EVENTS Role Play When children do role plays, they naturally become someone or something else. Role play stimulates their imagination and “enhanc(es) their social development, encourag(es) friendship through cooperation. Therefore, role play is a really vital activity for our children. Our children can learn many skills and attitudes during role play, and learn how to be co-operative (teamwork) and be empathetic with others. They can learn to express all their feelings. They also can learn about other cultures and improve their language and movement skills. During role plays our children can experience school activities like literacy and numeracy. In the playing shop, our children can “encompass all the aspects of the curriculum”. Role play can help our children to make sense of their world. Edu drama Stories Dramatic play is defined by experts as a type of play where children assign and accept roles and act them out. For example, child who pretends to feed and rock a doll to sleep is engaging in dramatic play, or a child who pretends to fix a leaky faucet in the play kitchen is engaging in dramatic play. This is a time for a child to pretend to be someone or something else, and while pretending may just look like “playing”, it is integral to the developmental learning process.
